Saline Banned Medical Marijuana
Saline just banned medical marijuana. The real surprise lies in the depth of the ban…
…city officials decided they wanted to follow federal law regarding marijuana, which prohibits its sale and possession. Not sure if i read it wrong or this is a typo, but if not it seems Saline is abandoning State law regarding medical marijuana altogether in favor of the more strict federal statues, without regard to the President’s directive that many of these same federal laws were not to be strictly enforced in States that allow for medical use of marijuana. It seems that Saline administrators did not get that memo.
Saline has somewhat of a reputation for being a police state, and banning it is their right i suppose, but the fact that the interpretation of such a massive legal issue is being left for individual city and township(!!!!) administrators to decide is ridiculous.County/State/Federal lawmakers need to start making some real decisions regarding medical marijuana and how the law is to be interpreted, because we all have better things to do with our time.
We all know that in a few years marijuana will be legalized nationwide anyway, if for no reason other than that we can no longer afford to imprison people for non-violent crime thanks to the war, recession, oil spill, monetary devaluation and every other reason we are broke. Until then, it looks like lawmakers will continue playing these games with the lives of otherwise ordinary citizens and livelihoods of productive members of the community.

L.A. Regulates Medical Marijuana Dispensaries
A Los Angeles law regulating dispensaries officially took effect today, 6/7/2010, requiring all clinics to register and pay a $324 fee…
For some reason, this is going to put a lot of them out of business.
SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL 420
Buyer be aware, Michigan will be the first place these displaced people will look to as that bubble bursts. Hell, some are already here staking a claim.
They bring with them a wealth of knowledge and cash to a State in desperate need of a competitive edge.
Unfortunately, they will also likely overwhelm local co-op efforts like ours with a cheap supply of imported meds.
No matter who you work with, please continue to support only legitimate local growers who have been through it all over the last decade. We are all just starting to get back on our feet and deserve a break.

Our Voice: Drug raid shows the need to revise medical marijuana, forfeiture laws
Our Voice: Drug raid shows the need to revise medical marijuana, forfeiture laws
By The Saginaw News staff
May 23, 2010, 5:18AM
When U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents and the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department raided Edwyn W. Boyke Jr.’s house on April 15, they confiscated a lot of his property under Michigan’s quarter-century-old drug forfeiture law.
But they left the Weed Wacker.
It must have been an oversight — that, or they don’t call marijuana “weed” anymore.
A car, a TV, two lawnmowers, a little pocket cash, scales, five jars of harvested marijuana, little seedlings and larger plants were taken — and Boyke’s state of Michigan medical marijuana card.
Boyke, who hadn’t been charged with a crime by late last week, is legally allowed under a law Michigan voters passed by a landslide in late 2008 to grow and use marijuana. In his case, to treat chronic pain.
But that law is full of holes.

Michigan Medical Marihuana MDHC Database Update

Michigan Department Of Community Health
I just realized that they updated the statistics since I last checked. One thing I notice right off the bat…. THE STATISTICS HAVE NOT CHANGED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE!
Where is Obama when we need him?
I bet this wouldnt be a problem if New York’s David Paterson was in charge. Oh wait, he is the guy who admitted to recreational use of marijuana and cocaine, but has yet to allow for legitimate use of medical use of marijuana for cancer patients. Hmmmmm…..
Here is the MDHC update…
Program Status Update (5/7/2010): Application Forms and Instructions are available for printing from this website.
Program Statistics:
* 28,992 original and renewal applications received since April 6, 2009.
* 14,872 patient registrations issued.
* 6,493 caregiver registrations issued.
* 4,216 applications denied — most due to incomplete application or missing documentation.

Ann Arbor Medical Marijuana Compassion Club

Thank you, Genesee County
Just got home from the local Ann Arbor compassion club meeting, and I have to say, there is a lot to be said for Ann Arbor and the fine people who live here. Overall, it was a great time.
I am amazed at the increase in the number of people engaged in frank and open discussion of medical marihuana. There were a lot of people with very interesting stories in attendance tonight.
Most notable was a harrowing tale of deceit and corruption within the state law enforcement community and their intentional misinterpretations of state law and Michigan Department of Community Health (MDHC) policy, courtesy of “PB” and J…
Reportedly, senators on both sides of the aisle were outraged at these “deplorable” practices and have issued yet another likely unfunded requirement for the MDHC to resolve these issues.
I need to review the facts and the secret internal memo that was leaked before I post the story, however if anyone knows Bruce Willis’ phone number I think we might be on to something… More on that later.
I also met representatives from an excellent group of educators, and they have put together a full lineup of classes that are more comprehensive than we can offer at this time, so those of you that are thinking about growing for yourself or others might want to check them out.
Class Information (please mention this so they pay me)
The group of people I met tonight will serve the community well and are truly here to help and support people by caring for their medical needs. I welcome the new entrepreneurs to the market and hope we can all play nice and help spur the sagging local economy.
That said, sorry guys, no free advertising for local competitors. I hope it works out for all of us

Ann Arbor Seed Bank

A2Dispensary.com - Ann Arbor Seed Bank
There has been a lot of interest in finding seeds and seed banks lately, so we are investigating the prospect of providing you and other area patients with medical marihuana seeds ourselves.
Why should you be forced to purchase EXTREMELY overpriced seeds from Canadian or European sources and have them delivered, risking legal consequences and seizure.
I am actually pretty excited about the idea… not only would it help you, but it also follows our mission to promote local business and keep money within the state economy.
Common sense would indicate that if caregiver services are legal, seeds should not be an issue. Unfortunately, once government legislation gets involved common sense no longer applies.
Because of these questions, we do not have separated packs of seeds available for purchase on site. I will keep you updated as I can determine the legal issues.
In the mean time, we will do what we can to care for your needs as a medical marihuana patient. We will be happy to forward your requests to independent local caregivers who may be able to help you find top-quality seeds.
Contact me at admin@A2Dispensary.com if you are interested or have a supply of medical marihuana seeds available.

Good Times
Hope everyone that came out to Ann Arbor for Hash Bash 2010 had a good time. Overall, I think the bash itself was a great time. As per usual, the weather turned a little sour, but it was nowhere near as bad as it has been in the past.
I did see a few people who got a little too comfortable in their surroundings and started smoking on the steps of the University library. Unfortunately for the girls, they only got a few in before they were confronted by campus police and taken to another kind of after party.
